Matt Ellis is an aviation photographer and historian. Published in many books and magazines over the last 25 years, his credits include Combat Aircraft, Air Forces Monthly, Flypast, Aircraft Illustrated, Aviation News, Military Aviation Review and many others. Book credits include Lockheed F-117 Night Hawks Role Call (Logan), Voices from an Old Warrior, USMOOS (Marden), US Air Forces Directory (Carroll) and others. Matt is a USAF veteran serving from 1988 to 2001 in both intelligence and weapons career fields. Although not a pilot, he has flown F-111, C-130, KC-135, and a Royal Air Force VC-10 over Iraq. While in the weapons career field, he primarily worked on B-52G, F-111F and F-15E aircraft. He also has experience with B-52H, F-111E, EF-111A and the F-117A. Assignments include the 379th Bomb Wing at Wurtsmith AFB, MI, 492nd/494th FS at RAF Lakenheath, 608th Air Intelligence Squadron, 8th Air Force at Barksdale AFB LA, and the Joint Analysis Center at RAF Molesworth U.K. Since leaving the USAF, Matt has worked as an investigator in a national security position. In his spare time he volunteers with the USAF Auxiliary - Civil Air Patrol and is a qualified scanner and observer.
